Small-batch roasted in Dorset, Fountain Rock capture the wild essence of our coastline in every cup. From secret chalk columns to world-class coffee, they’re on a sustainable mission to make Dorset proud, and they even offer free delivery to Portland three times a week, so you can enjoy their coffee at home too.

We’re thrilled to stock and use Wild England’s premium, natural, organic bathroom products, all beautifully made in Dorset and designed to help reduce single-use plastic in hospitality. 🍪 Butter & Bloom

Meet Katie, a mum, home baker, and maker of sourdough and butter on the Isle of Portland. What began in her kitchen as a way to feed her family wholesome, nourishing food has grown into Butter & Bloom, a local favourite known for its small-batch sourdough and handmade cookies. Using simple, honest ingredients, including free-range eggs from the farm opposite her, everything is baked with care and love, from her family to yours.

🌊 Dorset Sea Salt Co.

Harvested right here on Portland using seawater from Chesil Beach, Dorset Sea Salt captures the raw purity of our coastline. Every crystal tells the story of our sea air and coastal heritage.

🌱 Clipper Teas

Founded in a Dorset kitchen back in 1984, Clipper has grown into a global name with local roots. Their teas and hot chocolate are still blended in Beaminster, Dorset, always organic, fair, and delicious.

Accessibility & Inclusivity at Our Place in Portland

At Our Place in Portland, we believe a great stay starts with feeling welcome, comfortable and well-informed.

Our Victorian coastal cottage has been thoughtfully restored with character and comfort in mind. As a traditional three-storey cottage, it may not suit all accessibility needs, but we’re always happy to talk things through so guests can decide if it’s the right fit.

We provide detailed descriptions, photos and guidance across our website, social media and booking platforms so guests know exactly what to expect before they arrive.

If you have any questions or specific requirements, we’re always happy to help before you book.

Layout & what to expect

Our Place in Portland is a traditional three-storey cottage:

• Stairs connect all three floors
• Bedrooms are located on the first and second floors
• The main bathroom is on the first floor
• There is a small step at the entrance
• The garden is enclosed and accessed from the ground floor
• There are a small number of steps within the garden
• Parking is available in a nearby public car park

Due to the nature of the building, the cottage may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Inclusive stays for all kinds of guests

We welcome a wide range of guests, including:

• Families
• Couples and solo travellers
• Dog owners (up to two well-behaved dogs)

We aim to create a relaxed, respectful and home-from-home environment where guests can properly switch off and feel at ease.

We encourage guests to explore Portland on foot, with the South West Coast Path just moments from the door, and to discover the island’s natural beauty in ways that respect its landscape and wildlife.

Within the cottage, we prioritise low-waste choices, refillable products and reducing single-use items, alongside thoughtful touches that support a more sustainable stay.

We also share local recommendations that help guests connect more deeply with Portland, from independent cafés to outdoor experiences, supporting businesses that care about the place as much as we do.

Our approach also considers the wider impact of travel. We encourage low-impact activities, mindful use of resources and respect for the local environment. We are also conscious of energy use within the cottage and continue to look for ways to reduce our overall environmental footprint over time.
